v002 Blurs released

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Ive released 3 new Quartz Composer plugins which Ive been working on over at the v002 site. A faster gaussian blur, a faster motion blur, and a faster zoom blur. For fun, look at the provided comparison patches under debug mode, and take note of the execution time. Fun.

Ive been working on some faster basic blurs for Quartz Composer. Stay tuned, ill be releasing them shortly on the v002 site. However, they got me interested in some variable blurs, or, defining arbitrary blur areas with arbitrary blur shapes, directions and amounts. Ive prototyped these blurs in GLSL, within Jitter (there are issues with […]

FBO Glitch

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Ive been attempting to create some genuine glitch, inspired by these amazingly beautiful glitch images from Mary Ann. While I have not captured the same aesthetic, Ive hit upon a pretty decent (and reproducible – at least on my hardware) way of creating some interesting actual glitches. The basic technique involves rendering to an FBO, […]

Stupid QC tricks – transparent QC Window

Friday, May 16th, 2008

EDIT: Ive updated the code to allow the app to run at the desktop/normal app/or floating above all other apps, as well as work with key/mouse events and choose the target QC composition. This is actually kind of cool, and potentially useful, and certainly pretty… Here is an XCode project demonstrating how to create a […]

Cocoa note to self 2

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Note: the order in which you implement interfaces within a class file matters. One cannot have class variables within a class of an class interface further down the class file than the current interface… Retardo.

Cocoa and Quartz Composer Notes to self

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Ive been doing a lot of coding recently, porting v001 effects to Core Image/QC, learning Cocoa and making a Quartz Composer VJ application as a project. Some notes to self: Cocoa widgets will block OpenGL/QCRenderer rendering unless you do the following: // set up timers for preview and main renderer v001RenderTimer = [[NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:(1.0 /(NSTimeInterval)v001RendererFPS) […]

Experimenting with my Quartz Composer Rutt Etra simulator , a custom OpenGL plugin for Quartz Composer. Peaco truly is a wild man!

iChat Analog Glitch Plugin

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

So I was bored tonight and chatting with a friend, and decided to move one of my v001 in progress glitch shaders to iChat under Leopard. Quartz Composers new GLSL compatibility makes this essentially a copy and paste operation. Oddly, it seems sampler2DRect/texture2DRect is a no go with the GLSLGrid rendering destination, just FYI. Ive […]
